During the week I went to a 'Naming Ceremony' with my family. A member of my church gave birth to a baby girl 8 days earlier, so we went to celebrate with her and to also 'name' the baby girl.
A Naming Ceremony is a celebration and welcoming of a new born baby. It takes place, 8 days after the birth of the baby. Family and friends come together to witness the 'naming' of the baby. A Pastor is usually in charge of the occasion. The names given to the baby, by the parents are announced to everyone, during the celebration. It's also a time of laughter, food, dancing and much more.
Here's my look to the celebration:
I had a really nice time at the event. I met new people, ate good food and got lots of laugh out of it.
I love babies, so I'm always eager to go to an event like this. It puts a smile on my face.
The story of this baby girl is a testimony. Her parents have been married for 7 years and have been looking unto God for a child. They tried all they could to conceive a child, but everything failed. They even went to several specialists, that also proved abortive.
They eventually decided to wait on God, and He answered their prayers. God has given them a gift so beautiful and priceless, that can not be compared to anything. Her name is 'Mikalya.' In Hebrew, the name means 'Who is like God?' and in English, it means 'God's Gift.'
God's timing is always perfect. Even when we're in doubt, we still have to remain steadfast and ever faithful.
I use this opportunity to pray that, God will grant you all your heart desires, requests, and wishes in due time. Don't loose hope, but continue to hold onto God's word and promises.
The steadfast of the Lord never ceases.
