Out and About: Casual Chic

Merry Christmas Eve everyone! It's just one more day till...Christmas!  Thank you all so much for the comments on my previous post!  The day went well, thanks to God.

On arriving home, I was trying to take some chairs out of the car, and it landed on my right foot. Yes,  I dropped a chair (fold-able) on my foot! Remember earlier this year, I made mentioned that I injured my left foot/ankle and I had to stop wearing heels for a while? Well, that left foot hasn't completely healed, and now I have another injury on my right foot. I really don't know what to do anymore. It sucks having injury on both feet. Even trying to turn my feet from one side to another hurts and it makes cracking sounds. I'm sure you don't want to hear that...haha! :)  I had the audacity to wear heels to church yesterday, and trust me, it sorta made things worse. Anyways, keep me in your prayers! :)

Today's post features an OOTD I wore to school sometime last week, during final exams week in school. That day, I wanted to 'dress up', I guess I did that, but no, the outfit doesn't include any heels. The last time I wore some sort of heel (wedges) to school, I became very tired after a few hours. Walking from a building to another, does that to me, especially in heels.

Check out the look below:

Dear Plaid

Good Morning everyone!

The look below was what I wore to church on Sunday; it was my first time 'dressing up' a plaid shirt. I think the outfit turned out okay. I can't wait to try a different look with it! :)

Enjoy the pictures.

Winter Brights

Happy Friday! I hope your week was good!

Thanks so much for all the sweet comments you leave on my posts, it's appreciated!

A few weeks ago, Stephanie of Chocolate Laced published this look on her blog. It was an OOTD she had worn to school. After viewing the pictures, I was inspired and on Sunday, I decided to re-create the look.

Check out my interpretation of her look below:

Out and About: Dressed in Plaid

Good day, Expressionistas (my new word, check my followers column on the left to confirm)! Happy December 12, 2012! :)

The look below, is similar to this one, because they're both a 'layered' look. Underneath the plaid dress, I'm wearing a beige long sleeves t-shirt. I completed the look with long sleeves brown sweater and cinched in my waist with a brown skinny belt. The belt and boots are of the same color; which ties the look together!  And, yeah I'm wearing purple tights (matches the purple on the plaid dress).

Check out the look below:

Out and About: Leopard and Polka-dot (100th post)

Happy Friday! I hope your week went well. I guess this is my 100th post! :D
I started this blog on February 13, 2012. I talked more about the reasons I started this blog in this post (it's been updated).

Do you remember the outfit I shown here? I did plan on wearing that outfit to school the next day, but after trying it on, it just didn't 'feel' or 'look' right. I changed up the look a bit, although I wasn't entirely satisfied with the outcome (haha). I would have worn the scarf a different way and added a skinny black belt, to cinch in my waist and emphasize the black in the scarf. Oh well, there always a next time (experimenting with one's style is the key!) I'll try to style the red vest and distressed jeans in another OOTD post!

'Yay' to chubby cheeks (you'll notice what I mean in the pictures below). LOL. I actually think chubby cheeks makes me look younger! ;)
Anyways, check out the look below:

Out and About: Burgundy Print

Good day! I'm so grateful for my newest followers. I'm glad you took interest in my blog and what I have to offer. I hope you enjoy your stay here! :)

Two weeks ago, on a Saturday, I attended a surprise get-together for my mom's aunt. It was a 60th birthday celebration and was quite fun. I shared my look (below) on Instagram, but I wasn't sure I would post it on my blog, because of the quality. Since, I wasn't able to take pictures outside (it was a late/dark night), I took pictures inside instead.

Check out the look, below:

I'm wearing my new printed pants from Target, paired with a burgundy top.

Lady in Blue

Happy Monday everyone! How was your Thanksgiving weekend? Mine was pretty good! Time spent with family will always be cherished.
One thing I like about eShakti is that you're allowed to tailor an item to your specific requirement; which in return gives you a nice fit, costumed to your body shape.

Out and About: Blue Maxi

Happy Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm grateful for my life, family, friends, school and everything else God has placed in my hands! I'm also thankful for my sister; she's been taking my pictures since school began.

The look below was worn to school sometime this week. Check it out:

Office Style

Happy Thanksgiving Eve too! :)

First of all, I would like to thank you all for the lovely comments and words of encouragement you give on my posts. I'm so grateful and humbled.

This outfit was worn to church this past Sunday. This is the type of look I would wear to the office...

Out and About: Denim Vest

Hey loves! I hope you a good weekend. I was very lazy this weekend. I didn't do much. I didn't study as much as I should have...PROCRASTINATION is bad! LOL :) I have an exam this morning, so I'm off to school a few hours early, to study some more! :)

I wore the outfit below to school last week, Friday. I've had the skirt since summer, but didn't know how to style it.  Again, please ignore the outcome of the pictures. The top is actually orange, but it looks red in some of the pictures.

Anyways, check out the look below:

Dotted Floral

Happy Friday everyone! TGIF! I hope your week has been good. :)

Well, for sometime now, I've been mentally (haha) putting together the outfit below. I actually tried it on to see how I'd  like it, and I did like it. Last week or so, Raliat of Rallydfashionfanatic posted a look similar to this and I knew I had to go ahead and wear out what I had in mind.

Check out Raliat's version here and mine below:

Out and About: Target Run

Happy Veteran's Day!

I hope you had a good and productive weekend. I know, I did! :) On Saturday, I and my sister decided to go to Target. Target is a 15 minute walk from my apartment. So, I do frequent there a lot. I didn't plan on buying anything (I'm sure you understand), but when I saw a pair of printed skinny pants, I had to buy it. My sister also bought a pair of flats, it's so cute!

The look below is what I decided to wear on our short shopping experience. Before I knew it, it was after 5  pm  or so, and it was already getting dark. That's one thing I dislike about daylight savings. Well, I wasn't able to get good pictures.

Check out the look below:

Out and About: Vested

Happy, Happy day lovelies!

I hope all is well and good with you. Hmm. School hasn't been the easiest, but I'm hanging on. The semester ends next month, so that mean it's time to put in a little more effort. The thought of it just makes me cringe. LOL.

Check out my casual look to school, below:

I'm also patiently waiting for my Accounting exam results to come out. Fingers crossed...haha :)

Guest Post: Nail Art/Keeping Your Nails Groomed

Happy Monday! How was your weekend?

Today's guest post is from the one of my followers; Emma of NuellaSource. Emma has been a follower of mine for a while now. In fact, she was among the first few followers I had. Today, she'll be talking to us about one of the many her many talents/hobbies: Nail-Art. She's a very creative person, and Nail-Art is one of the ways she expresses herself.

Read more from her below:

Hello MyStyledExpressions readers! I don't know why Oluwaseun asked me to guest post about nails art since I'm definitely not a professional but I feel honored anyway. Believe it or not I'm a quite clumsy person, but I love colors and all the things girly. That is where my addiction for nail polish/nails art came from.

Here's a tutorial, and I hope you all will like it. I didn't list the products I used, because they're local. I actually live in Cote d'Ivoire (West Africa), but as long as you can see the color, it should be fine. Enjoy!

Lace and Pearls

Happy Friday! Hooray for the weekend! :D

After having to take 2 exams this week, I'm definitely excited for the weekend; time to relax and have fun. Well, I'm sort-of without a camera for now. So, I've decided to use my phone to take pictures of my outfits for the time being.

Here's a look at my outfit to Church this past Sunday:

Clueless

Happy New month! I hope your week has been good so far. Wow! Can you believe it's already November?!

I know I can't, but I'm very grateful to God for keeping I and my family safe until now. I thank Him for His love, protection and provision. This year has been quite interesting and fulfilling. It's been full of life lessons, discouragements, hurt, and encouragement. I've had to make some life changing decisions, while having to let go of some relationships (friendships). I've come to know who my true friends are, and I've also made new ones. Thank God for everything! :)

Thank you, to my new and old followers. I'm glad you have decided to stick around with me! Much love!

The look below was worn to church some weeks ago. Late? Yes! Well, check out the look below:

Guest Post: Summer to Fall Transition

Happy Monday loves! I hope you had a great weekend.

I have another guest post for you today! Today's guest post is brought to you by Raliat of Rallydfashionfanatic.  She is currently a Junior in College, but also a fashion blogger. According to her, "I am kind of a nerdy Fashionista. I am such a nerd that during my free times, I read for fun but there is a part of me that is so in love with fashion. On my blog, I showcase fashion forward outfits with styling tips, plus celebrity inspired/look for less."
Today, she will be giving us some tips on how to transition a look for Summer to Fall. Check out what she has to say below:

My Summer to Fall Transition look
In this summer to fall transition, I am transitioning a pair of black lace high-low skirt that I got last summer. During the summer, I paired the skirt with a simple t-shirt and a pair of colorful sandals. For fall, I decided to play with patterns and textures. I paired the lace high skirt with a multicolored striped top. I added black opaque tights since it is chilly nowadays, completed the look with a pair of black and gold cap toe pumps, skinny belt, clutch and a collar necklace.

Out and About: Preppy

Happy Wednesday!  :)

A casual look for school:

This was an outfit I wore to school. I wasn't going for a 'preppy' look, but that's what it came out to be. I really like this look. It was a bit cool that day, so the yellow sweater layered over the buttoned down shirt, kept me warm. I paired the top(s) with a distressed jean. I also wore tights underneath, so my skin was not visible. The flats I'm wearing is also another great find of mine from Target

What I'm wearing:
Yellow Sweater: Thrifted
Shirt: Old Navy
Jeans: I'm not sure...
Watch: Gift from Macys
Flats: Target

What do you like about this look?

Take care! :)
xoxo

Guest Post: Iro ati Buba (Oleku)

Hello all!

Guest post for today is from my dear friend, Oyelola. She'll be informing us about one of the many ways the Yoruba people of Nigeria dress up for: parties, weddings, naming-ceremonies, and any sort of celebration.

Check out what she has to say, below

In the Yoruba culture, we have an outfit we call Iro ati Buba Iro is the bottom and Buba is the top, but for females, the Iro is worn like a wrap skirt. For the formal style of Iro ati Buba, the Iro reaches your ankle, while the Buba reaches your wrist. The more 'hip' style of Iro ati Buba is known as the Oleku. The Iro reaches your knee, while the Buba is quarter-length sleeves.

You can use whatever material/print you want for the style. Choosing a vibrant color or print is the best way to go, because you'll stand out. Ankara and Lace are some of the materials used in sewing Iro ati Buba. To make your Iro ati Buba or Oleku a complete outfit, you are encouraged to wear a gele. Gele is a head gear/wear/piece. It also comes in different material/print. Learning how to wrap a gele is not a difficult, but it takes practice.

Guest Post: Trends

Happy Wednesday!

I hope your week has been well. Remember I mentioned that I'll be incorporating Guest Posts to my blog, in this post? Well, today is one of those days. Today's guest post is from the lovely Cindy Saul of Life as a Young Christian. Cindy is a blogger from South Africa and is currently studying Corporate Communication.

Check out what she has to say about trends, below:

What do I love the most about trends?
Isn’t it great how fashion trends connect us girls? I love how we share fashion and beauty tips. I love that fashion is diverse, and the trends are always changing.  I also like the fact that when a certain trend does come back in style, it’s always with a twist – an improvement. It allows you to be creative and to express on the outside what you feel inside.

What do I dislike most about trends?
The saddest thing about Fashion trends is that we forget that it’s what’s in the inside that counts, Twenty years from now it won’t really matter how your hair looks like today, what brand jeans you wore or what brand of shoes you wore.  What will matter is how you loved people and contributed in the world that you live in. Let us not forget that inner beauty in what matters the most.

Big Bow Ankara Print Dress

Happy Thursday, people! How are you? I'm doing very well.

I'm on Fall break (from school) now, and I'm home with the family. It's a great feeling to be home now and be able to relax. Well, it's not all relaxation because I have many assignments and exams to study for. Haha.

Last month I attended a wedding and I wore an Ankara print dress. The dress was a bit loose on me, so I had it altered by my Mom's tailor. She did a good job and the dress fits me very well. The pictures are not the best because I didn't think about posting it then (my blog wasn't really on my mind at the time). Anyways, check out the look below:

Sunday's Best: Purple Rain

Hey, hey, hey!

The look below was what I wore to Church on Sunday. I was not prepare for Church at all. I had no idea what to wear, but I knew I wanted to pair skirt with a top.

Out and About: Dotted

Good day lovelies! How's everyone doing? Tomorrow is Friday, then the weekend will be here! :)

Thanks to the lovely Emma of NuellaSource, I have a new blog design! She did a fantastic job. She came up with the header design, and I absolutely like it. I also changed the colors on my blog and added links to the end of each posts (make sure to follow me on each site, to stay in touch).  I've wanted a new look for my blog, for a long while now, and she made that possible. Thanks, Emma. How do you like the new look?

Anyways, today's outfit (post) was worn sometime last week. I wore this look out. The sheer shirt is filled with multi-color polka dots, but due to the lightning, you can't see the colors clearly. I decided to pull out one of the colors (pink) in the shirt, by pairing it with some pink pants with over-size pockets, and blue-green bag.

Check out the look, below:

Out and About: Color Blast

Happy Monday!

Here's a quick outfit post for you all. This look was worn on Friday. I went on an Apartment search with my family. Since school is starting in a few weeks, I'm in dire need of a place to stay. I didn't find one, but I hope to find one this week! :)

Well, check out my look for that day, below:

Purple Rose

Happy Friday! :)

What do you have planned for the weekend? Today's outfit post features my look to Church on Sunday. I paired a printed Ankara skirt with a yellow blazer and white tank.

Out and About: Fountain Garden

Hey everyone!

How's your weekend? Did you do anything fun or adventurous? Well, I didn't do either one. LOL. But I did go to an outing during this past weekend. The look I opted for can be worn as a casual look, and can also be altered to suit a business setting.

As promised, here is complete post on the preview from Sunday! :) Check out the look, below:

For this look, I decided to dress it with two pairs of shoes. The first pair of shoe is a nude sandal heel from Target. This shoe gave the look, a more casual and fun vibe.

Out and About: Singing Birds

Hey lovelies! I hope you're having a great start to your weekend.

During this week, I went out with my sisters. It was a great time spent together with loved ones. The pictures in this post are vertical. I wanted to try it out (again), to see if I liked it. But guess what? I think I'll stick with the horizontal pictures, till further notice! :)

Check out my look for that day, below:
The top I'm wearing is from the Target. I really like the color and the print of birds on it.

Little Black Dress

Hey beautiful people!

I hope all is well and good with you! Summer break is coming to a quick close for me. School resumes next month, and I'm not sure I'm ready. LOL. Ready or not, school will be in session before I know it. How are you preparing for school? I hope you've been enjoying your summer break.

Anyways, today's look was worn on Sunday. I love the LBD I wore; the outer material is lace and there's a lot of styling that can be done with this LBD!

Out and About: Bohemian Chic

Happy Monday, beautiful ladies and handsome gentlemen!
It's been almost two weeks, since my last post. Wow, it feels like it's been ages. Well, I hope you're all doing fabulous. What have I missed?

Anyways, today's outfit post is 'almost' entirely thrifted. The jean vest and maxi skirt are thrifted. I love the jean vest because of the 'net' design and the buttons on it. The maxi skirt is one of a kind, LOL. I really like the feel of it and also the print on it.

Check out the look below:

I really apologize for my absence. I felt I neglected an unfinished project; which is not very good. Well, I hope and pray to be more consistent with my outfit post and others, from now on.

Out and About: Asymmetrical Galaxy Skirt

Happy New Month!

Isn't is great, that the first day of July fell on a Sunday?!?! It's awesome! :)

Today's post was made possible by Diane of DeeVine Anonyme. I won an asymmetrical galaxy skirt, from a giveaway she hosted some weeks ago. I finally had a chance to style the skirt, this past weekend! :)

Check out the look below:

Sunday's Best: Smiling Rainbow

Happy Monday!

This post won't include a lot of rambling. LOL. I titled this post 'Smiling Rainbow', thanks to my mom. After getting dressed on Sunday, she saw my skirt and said 'you look like a rainbow' and I smiled :). She was right though, because the colors on the skirt reminds me of the many colors of a rainbow. Thank you mom! :D

Here's a closer look at my outfit:

Out and About: Wedding Mode

Hey, everyone! I hope your week is going on pretty good.

Here's a look at what I wore to a wedding this past week. It was a small wedding, and I also wasn't in the mood to get dressed. Keeping that in mind, I can't my look simple with no fuss. Check out the look, below:

Sunday's Best: Retro Fun

Happy Sunday!

I was contacted by Sugarlips Apparel sometime ago." Contemporary clothing from Sugarlips will keep you ahead of the trends. Sugarlips specializes in women's fashion clothes."

There were a lot of great items to choose from. But, I chose this dress, because of the color and the girly-ness vibe it has. When I received the dress, I was more than pleased. The dress looked much better in-person, than it did online!

Check out my look below:

Out and About: God's Gift

Hello!

During the week I went to a 'Naming Ceremony' with my family. A member of my church gave birth to a baby girl 8 days earlier, so we went to celebrate with her and to also 'name' the baby girl.

A Naming Ceremony is a celebration and welcoming of a new born baby. It takes place, 8 days after the birth of the baby. Family and friends come together to witness the 'naming' of the baby. A Pastor is usually in charge of the occasion. The names given to the baby, by the parents are announced  to everyone, during the celebration. It's also a time of laughter, food, dancing and much more.

Here's my look to the celebration:

Sunday's Best: Neutral, White and Ruffles

Hello, beautiful ladies and handsome gentlemen!

This past Sunday, the temperature was in the 90's! Wow, it was too hot to bare! The sun was really at work. Even the wind been blown wasn't enough to suppress the heat.  Despite what I wore, and how light my top was, the heat was still hard to cope with.  The sun definitely affected the outcome of my pictures.

Well, can you spot the difference in my pictures today? Check out my look, below:

Out and About: Mall Shades

Hey, beautiful people! :)

I went to the mall with my sisters to do some window-shopping and we eventually went home with some goodies! My younger sister bought me some sunglasses, because the ones I have are not the cutest! LOL.

Oh yeah! I changed my hair-style. I gave myself bangs. Well, I'm not so sure about the style, but it's alright. It looks better in-person, and not so much in pictures! :( But, I'm no longer wearing this hair-style, because I took out my weave last week. I'm currently rocking my hair in it's shrunken state. I'm getting my hair braided this week though! :)

Also, the top I'm wearing is ripped, on the top left. I like the 'distressed' look, so I didn't bother amending it! :) Anyways, check out my look, below:

Out and About: Sister Sister

 Hello, hello, hello!

I'm showcasing my 'big sister' today. I loved what she wore to an outing earlier this week. I like how she styled and accessorized the dress. The dress is cute on it's own, but even better with the way she styled it.
Check out her look below:

Out and About: Dancing Rings

Hey, ladies and gents!

Why 'Dancing Rings', you ask? Well, the print on the dress/skirt looks like that to me! I wore this outfit to a Church event. I finally switched up my hair-style, not really though. All I did was, twisted both sides, pinned it and put it in a small low bun. I left the front 'bangs' out and curled it! :) Enjoy the pictures, below:

Out and About: Plaid Inspired

Hello. I was inspired by Tomilola of My Style Loveletters.  I loved this look, as soon as I laid my eyes on it. I decided to re-create the look and I wore it to an outing yesterday. I paired my orange prom dress; worn as a skirt with one of my many plaid shirts. Don't be distracted by the 'peeking' out of my dress/skirt at the waist. I was in a hurry. Well, check out Tomilola's look and my re-creation below:

Out and About: Trip Out

Hey, everyone! I miss you all! How are you? Great, I hope.
I'm sorry for the absence of posts and comments. I went out of town last week and I had no access to internet. So I used that opportunity to take a break from the web. It felt good, but I missed it. My trip was awesome. I didn't want it to end, because I loved everything about it. I was glad I saw my family that I haven't seen in so many years and of course my friends.
Below is a look at what I wore to go on the trip:

Sunday's Best: Leopard Print & Orange

Hello! I hope you're having a wonderful week. It rained on Sunday, so I had to make do with the weather. It was very cloudy during the time the pictures were taken, so they didn't turn out too good.

I was skeptical about posting the pictures, but I really like the look. So, here it is:

Out and About: Baby Pink

Hey, wonderful people! I hope you're all having a great weekend.

During the week, I attended a Baby Shower. It was lots of fun. It was great being around joyous and uplifting people. I had more fun than I thought I would. The time spent at the Shower was filled with love, laughter, dancing, eating and much more. I wore a skirt that you've probably seen enough of (haha). I paired the skirt with a simple t-shirt and flats. My camera has been acting up.

With that being said, some of my pictures didn't save :(. Anyways, check out the look below:

Out and About: Out with the Sister

Hey, beautiful people! I hope you're all doing well. During the week, me and my sister went out to eat and also did some window-shopping. I considered it window-shopping because I saw somethings I liked, but I didn't purchase anything. Anyways, check out our looks below:

Out and About: Bright Colors

How are you? How are final exams? I bet you can't wait to be done! Anyways, I just wanted to share with you all an OOTD of a few days ago.

I was in a very happy mood, and I decided to express that through what I wore. I stocked up on a lot of t-shirts last summer, so I've been putting them to use lately. I paired my pink t-shirt with my body-con, one shoulder blue dress, that I wore as a skirt. I love the look of blue and pink together; it's a lovely combination. I hope you think so too. Well, check out the look below:

Out and About: Stripes with a Twist

Hey, lovely people! I hope you're having a wonderful week. I went to a Birthday get-together this week. The event was taken place inside (house). The look I opted for, was casual and stress-free, because the event was held inside.

The top I'm wearing has a dog print on it. I don't like dogs, but I found the dog on this top to be really cute! I had to buy it! And to top it off, it had a bow, so I definitely had to have it! Oh yeah, I'm also wearing the earrings that I won from the giveaway hosted by the lovely Adjoa of The Ivy League Clique. I love the earrings! Be sure to check our her blog! Anyways, check out the look below:

Versatile Blogger Award!

Hey, everyone! I've been given the Versatile Blogger Award by the beautiful Chioma of Chocolate's Evolution of Style. Thank you, Chioma! :)

Out and About: Splash of Colors

Hello, everyone! I hope you're all having a great weekend so far. My weekend is going very well. Today I attended a graduation of a family friend. He graduated with his RN (Registered Nurse) Degree. It's been a long and tedious journey, but we thank God for seeing him through. For my outfit for the occasion, I wanted to be dressy but still simple. So, I decided to wear a dress that was a bit fun; because of the colors, and I kept the accessible simple. Check out the look below:

Out and About: See Blue

Hello, beautiful people. I hope the weather has been in your favor, like its been over here in Minnesota! I discovered that I have more striped clothing items in my closet than I thought I did. Well, I decided to put one to use yesterday. I've also noticed that I wear more neutral and black than I would like to. So, adding touches of color with my skirt (originally a tube top) and my bag was the way to go! I definitely want to experiment with more colors this Summer. Anyways, check out my look below:

Sunday's Best: A Touch of Gold

Hey lovelies! I hope all is well!

Here's a look at my outfit to Church today:
